1967 johnson 3hp lightwin jhf 22 ring end gap?

Hi I just got a lightwin that has pitting on the cylinder walls....I could only get 30 psi on each.....I found pistons and rings .020 OS....My Question is what end gap should I be looking for? And piston clearance?

The old rings have like .028 end gap.....and .0025 on piston to sidewall clearence....could i just maintain that for the .020 over piston and rings?
