1966 6HP Fisherman

Anyone out there know what the price of one of these was when it was new? I can't seem to find any historical price sheets on the net. Thanks!

We bought a brand new '68 Johnson 6 hp on sale at Jacobson's marine in Seattle, Wa, with a 6 gal tank, for $296.

I remember because we sold it, 20 years or so later, for $275

Thanks - I was thinking it was in the $250-$300 ball park. That was a lot of money is '66! New outboards have always been expensive. Adjusted for inflation, $275 works out to $1850 in 2010 dollars. BTW... I bought this one a few weeks ago at a garage sale for $35 ! After cleaning it up, it proved to be a real jewel. And it runs great.

Yep, it was a lot of money in '68 as well.

Those 6 hp seem to be a bit of an economic oddity. They're still worth about $300 today!

They are great motors, however, and a few years ago I bought a '75 6hp (with electronic ignition) off ebay for $310. It's also a great motor, and starts off one or two pulls, even after a winter's storage!
