1966 33 horsepower evinrude no spark

I have a 33 horsepower evinrude with electric start, that came with a boat I bought. It has good compression but just won't get a spark. The guy I bought it from said it ran good and since he had rebuilt the carb, put a new fuel pump and some other new parts on it before he decided to sell the boat, I think he is honestly telling me the truth. I would like some opinions on where to start looking for the problem. It turns over fine with the key switch, and the points don't look bad. Any help would be appreciated.

Check coils - make sure they're not cracked or blistered; make sure points are clean and set to .020". Make sure the kill circuit is not shorting out and preventing it from sparking.

You could disconnect the motor plug remove the plugs and hand crank to test spark.
The coils on these motors are the weak point very common failure.
