Remember when you spin it with a drill, how fast does the drill spin?
If you have a drill with one gear it only spins about 500RPM.
The OB idle about 750-800RPM.
Checking with a drill is not a sufficient check and why do you want to check the impeller!
The impeller needs to be changed every 3-5 years.
That power head is cooked, part out the rest of it and buy another good engine.
It is not worth the money to repair that power head.

If you go back and read what the 3 mechanics said about it, the engine is fine. The drill spins at 450 rpm. Trying to find out how the water is circulated for future reference. Idle speed is around 850, so the drill is spinning at less than half. And why not check the impellar? And by the way, impeller is brand new.

Those three mechanics do not know what they are talking about.
Have worked with outboards in 25 years and many different brands.
That engine is fried, scored cylinder walls, scored pistons and the piston crowns are affected from overheat and or pre detonation.

Before i got all new stuff on it and got it running the compression was 110 on both
Those motors brand new never had 110 psi compression. To get those compression #s on that junk motor you put oil in the pistons

One's been working on them since he was 14 years old, he's now 62 years old. He saw it in person, you all are giving advice on a picture.
Nothing is scored on piston or walls.
As far as compression goes, you know what it was brand new?

Why were pictures of a scored cylinder posted.--Or was that before you installed new O/S pistons in this thing.------You are not convinced that this motor is junk based on your pictures here??.

I based it off a guy who saw it in person, worked on evinrude and Johnson for 40 years, his dad had the shop for 60 plus years. He's at a huge shop and manages it. Not a backyard mechanic as some say about certain people.

If they were so good why are you here? Highly doubtful that a big shop would even look at that motor.

If cylinders are still like the pictures you posted the motor is scrap.----Need some good parts for a 9.5 then come over and pick them up.----It is ridiculous that any mekanik would say that motor is ready to run.---That is if pictures are a true indication of the motor today !!
