1961 Mercury Merc 500

I am hoping to find a copy of the repair manual for my 1961 Kiekhaefer Mercury, Merc 500, 50 hp, 4 cyl/2 stroke that is on the 1961 Texas Maid Fiesta. Also is there a major difference between the '61 and '65 Mercury 50hp outboards? I see ther are repair manuals that go back to 1965 on here but nothing older

Mercury manual "1965 and prior C-90-25500". The powerheads are very similar I think the '65 has the water silenced exhaust and internal throttle/shift linkages.

Use the serial Nr. to look for parts/info; this is a 1961 500:

yup. 1964 was the first year for a black engine. Also 1964 was the anniversary year and the front plate said 25th anniversary/ lots of chrome. That motor is at least a 1965, and I think that decal and lack of chrome puts it at a 1967 or later
