196? 40hp Johnson Supe rSeaHorse

I bought a 1960 something 40hp Johnson Super Seahorse. It came with elto controls. Is this normal?
Also can you tell what year and model number just from the serial number?

ELTO controls are an OMC made product, so that should be fine.

As far as model on the Johnson 40's, the 1960 is an RD(s) -22 and just go in consecutive order from 22 for the next year. I.E

RD(S) 23 = 1961
RD(S) 24 = 1962

and so on.
