What should the spark plug gap be on my 1959 35 hp johnson thanks for any help

Hi 1961. Your points should be set a .020" and the spark plug gap should be set to .030". Champion J6C, or J8C will work best. Here's a great link that can walk you through an OMC magneto rebuild. Holler if you get stuck.

I agree with J6C at .030", but not with J8C. Original spec called for J4J (now J4C)which should be your alternate plug.
