I actually wasn't expecting it to start :D there was no gearbox on it at the time and that's the length of time it ran for so should be ok.

The parts just came in the post and I just had to try them out :D it's back in pieces now.

Wow - Looks like it straight off the factory floor. I'm sure once you get the key it will run like new also Great job.

Well she is up and running but still needs a bit of a tune up, one of the things that is bothering me is the timing plate and the armature seem to have a lot of movement is this normal.

What kind of movement are you talking about?

You should be able to play with your low speed and have that idle down to almost nothing. Then use the kill button to stop it.

Looks beautiful, great job.

At about 29 sec into the video you can see the plate next to the gear shift shaft moving up and down a bit.

That does look odd to me. Did you make sure the armature plate retaining ring was bevel side down?

Now I see it, sounds like good advice above, or tighten the screws, just kidding.

Also make sure that the butterfly in the carb is opening at the point when the roller is at the line on that plate. Looks like it might be off some.

Spot on it was upside down  I remember now putting it on and thinking it looks to be a better fit with the curved side up. "live and learn"

Thanks

You're not the first to think that. Ask me how I knew... Glad it was an easy fix. Should run A LOT better.
