Okay so my dad and me are fixing up the boat thats been in our yard for 10 years. Everything is finished... except the motor. My dad used the motor on the boat 10 years ago and let it sit outside for all ten years. We put a new impeller inside and new sparkplugs. It's hooked up to the gas. The thing won't run. What should we do? Please don't tell me we have to take apart the carburetor.

Yes, need to give the carb a good cleaning, or while you are in there rebuild it with a rebuild kit they sell. It really isn't very hard to clean the carb on that motor

DON"T just assume it is the carburetor. Could be, but it is also likely there is something else wrong with it.

Remove the recoil starter and then the cover plate from the flywheel. You will then be able to see the ignition system. If it is all cruddy & greasy or the coils are cracked, you are wasting your time till you fix it.
