Yep. I understand they need to be put back together perfectly square with each other.

I must be lucky then. I've always used a press, welded them and never had a prob. Maybe with a press you get a good straight shot at them.

Did it spin over before you did your tune-up? I doubt it broke while you were working on it. If you had the pump base off, did you replace the gasket between the pump base the the gear housing? Some of the ones I've seen come with newer kits are awfully thin and can alow the base to compress on the shock ab. Older ones tended to be thicker. If you put a thicker gasket in there and it turns over by hand, but tightens up when you run it, then the spring is definitely done for. If it works fine, then it was the thin gasket...

yes it did pull just fine before. im gonna get a thicker gasket and see if that fixes it

Ah heck, just grind some material off of the bottom of the water pump base where the shock hits it.

thank you for all your help. i found a little washer that was just sitting there on the shock absorber and i removed that washer and it pulls like it used to . now i just gotta fine tune it in a test tank . again thank you all for your help. i feel very comfortable asking questions on this forum.
