Sam! That looks FANTASTIC!!! Hopefully that made all the hours of sanding and the sore shoulders worth it!

Absolutely beautiful! I always prefer hand rubbing stain, but brushing will build it faster.

I appreciate the kind words guys .... Hopefully it gets better with every coat going on. I only have 1 qt of varnish on hand ..
2 gallons are on the way . The qt should be enough for the first coat on everything including the seats ..
I tried out the planner and cut out the new seat pieces that needed replacing.
I had to tint the pieces to get them close.. 8877FC5A-7676-40B1-AACC-3786A88D4E0C.jpeg

Looks like you have wood! I like the look. Can't see the details but are you happy with the planer finish? Looks sweet to me.

It will be a Rolls Royce of boats.

I don’t know about a RR but hoping for something in between that and an Edsil ...:D
Kc , seeing as this was my first time using a planner I don’t have much to compare with .
It did seem to do what it was intended to do ... Finish was pretty smooth and only took some light sanding to finish it up .
It seemed to work better when I just made one or two passes at the same height . If I ran it through to many times at same height it would not come out as good . A little snipe but I think that was me getting used to how to feed and retrieve it .

Yeah Zool , it does spit out some shavings .LOL! This model doesn’t have a vac attachment but I think they make an add on one you can buy ..
Got all the seat parts sanded and first coat of varnish on ..And first coat on the inside .. The bow area still hasn’t gotten any more fun since the last time I climbed in there ...

Lunch break update ...
Re-assembled the seat backs and mounted the stopes for the middle seat back . Got em sitting in place temporarily..I gotta do some thinking on how to proceed .. I would really rather leave the seats out until all is complete in the bottom . Paint and all .. But, I want to fill or plug the mounting holes before I varnish the seat bottom tops ... I guess I could just varnish that last thing .. I need to pick up the wood for the slat floor . I think I will go with cedar .. Thinking on going with 3 separate sections between the seat support brackets . Would think I need to mount them in where they don’t slide or jump around while under way ..

Sam, It's looking great! If and when you want to have a dust collection system, Give me a Buzz. I made one for my planer and it works great. Used 1/4" Masonite and normal pvc plumbing fittings. Cost less than 10 bucks.. I have a 2hp HF dust collector so I used 4" fittings but it would work with a shop vac too.
