If you believe him, then get it. It's not a bad deal if in good shape. How far away is it?

BTW, 4.0L Saraha, do you have any photos of the pistons heads on the 3hp? As the inside's are so nice it sure looks like you could get the pistons out by lubing and pressure , then re-hone and then get the 'lil 3 up and running again.

Got the pics of the 1957 10hp johnson. For 150$ Looks like a good deal to me. You guys think I should go for it? Is it me or the skeg look a little beat up? The prop looks okay.:rolleyes:

Beat up? Are you joking? The paint is worn off. That's it.

If the engine holds in gear at WOT, it's a GEM.

If you don't want them send me the info. I'll buy em.

Sounds like a fair deal to me. If I was in the market for a 1956 QD-16 that's the one I'd buy. $375 is high, which is probably why it hasn't sold. $150 is a good price assuming everything checks out and I'm sure it does.

Don't let that Johnson get away. At that price it won't take long to sell it.

Re: 1950's 7.5hp vs 1960's 9.5hp

The chipped skeg really annoys me, but if I wanted a good motor to use, and maybe fix up later, I'd buy it. That is a good deal, especially from a dealer. I don't think any dealer would keep around an old motor like that if it weren't in good shape. It looks good under the cowl also. In case you're interested, I'm buying some decals from "Sturbridgevinylgraphics.com" for 23.00 for mine. Will post when I get them what their quality is. Good price, anyway.
By the way, the skeg is chipped on mine, too. Doesn't hurt a thing.
Good luck,
JBJ

Okay so that one didn't work out. I'm bidding on this.

The only part missing is the shifter handle. There is another guy bidding so if I change my mind he will probally out bid me. What do you guys think of it.

Next choice is this with a tank for 300$

What do you guys think of both?

Both are nice motors, but I'm a sucker for the 1956 Evinrudes. However, the Johnson may be the better deal. Can you pick up either locally or do you have to have them shipped? Do either of them have new coils? Is the Johnson running? Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $300 total for either motor shipping included. Actually, I wouldn't pay $300 either, but I think that's a fair deal for that motor + tank just the same. I wouldn't pay any more than the current asking price for the Evinrude since it needs parts.

see Ebay items 120217421883 and 160205094186 They are both 10 HP Evinrudes, and they look to be in good condition plus they are a few hours away from you so you could pick them up and save a lot on shipping, and put the money into tune up, water pump etc

Re: 1950's 7.5hp vs 1960's 9.5hp

I think 120217421883 is the Evinrude he mentioned. The other is a little pricey. However, if it has newer coils then its a fair price. The "bread box" style Evinrudes are not as collectable as the 1950's (excluding 1959, which is also a bread box). Of course, they are all just as good. The 1960 is theoretically faster and slightly lighter than the others. Although I'd pay less for the 1960 I also think its worth $250-300 to an angler assuming its in running condition.

I have seen both of those. I'm keeping my eye on the bread box. Looks nice. The evinrude has a tank too. The johnson ran but I think it will still need coils, water pump etc.
