The control panel in the dash for ignition and choke are for this era motor and the dash board construction looks like it's original. I'm positive it's an OEM OMC control panel. If it's had more than one motor, it's always been an Evinrude/ Johnson.. I do see newer Holiday 14's having the same windshield, and my dad had a '72ish Jetstar with the same windshield. But I think the later boats had a metal or covered dash, and the 60's boats had wooden dashes and this one is wooden. I could be totally wrong, but I'm still nearly positive this boat is a '66ish boat.. It's been re decked at least twice judging by the holes in the ribs ( now 3 times ), and the transom is not original either

Installed 2 of Wise's finest ( cheapest ) b2b loungers. Actually got these because they are the only loungers with an 8" base. The instructions are horrible, and I could not get them to work as loungers, so I modded them into a fixed position

I have the same seats and same story, no instructions. Do you want pics of my assembly? You have plenty of floor space in there

yeah if you have them. I had seat #1 off the frame multiple times, putting the brackets in different spots, trying different things and the lounger supports would hit and it would not close... Right now, they are strapped togther with metal strapping inside, between the bolts.

Yes I’ll try to do that today. They are in the cold cellar from the winter tear out

Not sure if those pics help or not. They are a bit tight tucking the bars in to do the folded upright position.

Next thing is switching trailers on land.. I have a compact tractor that I know can lift the bow up off the trailer, but what do I support the rear with?

I've got a Venture VB 1300 which is a basic 2 bunk trailer to put under it

The leap frog method works well for me when gutted and no motor. You just remove winch tower from old trailer with boat, drop tongue on the ground, back new trailer up over the old to where it contacts the boat, hook winch strap of new trailer to the boat and winch it onto the new trailer.

I was going to do the leap frog method, but I opted to hang the boat.. No pictures because it went so smoothly.

I used 8 junk tires from work, 4 in each stack. Slid the boat back far enough to get the weight off the trailer and start to rest on the tires. Then put weight back on the trailer to get the tires under farther.. I used my compact tractor to lift the bow. Old rickity Holesclaw came right out from under.. I jammed the brand new VB1300 under it as far as it would go. Hooked the winch and cranked the trailer under the boat. Slid and adjusted the winch stand and front roller, tightened up the winch and done..

Still fits in the garage kinda

Splashed it today at a nearby lake I've never been to ( Canadarago ). Launch is a great/ easy launch, trailer launched great.

Hit the choke, and it did have to crank a second or 2 but it fired right up.. I forgot to prime the bulb or it would have started right off

I didn't get any good pics due to direct sunlight in my phone screen, but it seems to run about 30 MPH, handles very well and it did not take on any water. I ran it through it's own wake to see how it handled chop and it does quite well. That old 40hp just sings, and it does not take much to get it on plane.

Looks gray and choppy but a good splash none the less is what it's all about. (y)

Was a little cloudy. Not smooth as glass. I think the waves in the pic are actually the wake from my boat. I can't remember but I think I had just turned around when I took that picture.. Had 1/2 day window as this was after my 1/2 day at work and tomorrow is supposed to rain, so good enough

How do I go about filing for a name for my boat? or is that even required? I have ordered decals already

Good splash!

Just name her with proper respect to the gods. Nothing else needed in the way of approval.

You certainly made short work transforming that into a nice rig!

No obvious leaks and the motor jumpin' to life with so little effort...Congrats on an uneventful shakedown / successful splash!!

Thanks, and yup. Bilge was bone dry. I upgraded the bilge system But glad I did not even have to turn it on. I had it set on auto anyway

It was actually kind of funny. There were 2 go fast boats at the launch. An older smaller Scarab and a Wellcraft of the same type but was not a Scarab.. They must have been friends, and the Wellcraft wouldn't start. They were just killing the battery cranking, cussing and drinking beer.... My boat was running not 30 seconds after floating it off the trailer, warming up.. I drove right past them, while they looked in amazement that my 50 year old boat/ motor just came to life that quick.. When I got back to the dock almost 1.5 hours later, they had just given up and were getting their trailers and commented to me that mine must be pretty reliable

That's too bad that they couldn't have a good day on the water but I bet it made you appreciate yours even more!

The most reliable motor won't cooperate if it's not properly maintained and winterized.

There were 4 people and 2 boats.. One was idling the entire time I was at the dock.. I'd have loaded up the dead boat and taken the good boat to at least get some time on the water.
