Is a 1985 185 Mercruiser engine compatible with a 1994 Alpha One Outdrive?

Are you replacing the motor or the outdrive? My setup is that motor with an Alpha 1 gen 1. (that's a pretty rare motor, assuming it's the 3.8 liter 229 CID)

You might post this on I/O forum. that '94 OD is likely Alpha I Gen II
