A penny saved means more 5200 and beer money, Gibs. :D

The trim work is looking good.

An awesome transformation Gibbs. :thumb:

I just can't believe the original steering wheel configuration, that was stupid and dangerous.

Great to hear that Gibbs, yeah it's nice when admirals fall in love with the old boats made new, mines like Vana White now at the launch showing off 'her' Chief.

It's amazing what the smart tabs do for a boat, Sig's going shopping for a set too!

Hats of to iboats for carrying the bottom feeder priced factory blemish tabs for us old tin drivers :yo:

I had her behind the wheel a few times, however she is more use to the Jet, and found the front a little bit of a blind spot.

I just reminded her the style of boat, and it's not that important to see everything

The lake we went to is super close to us, called Pine View.
Nice because when I'm trying to save a few bucks, that lake costs me les than $5 to go to and from. :)

It's a decent size lake but one off the smallest ones around here, it's really funny seeing some of the giant "ships" people put on the water there.

Reminds me of a comedy, someone wins the lottery, buys a yacht and sticks it in a puddle just big enough to float it.

Yup there are always some huge boats on that lake, however there were two sea going vessels yesterday.

one was about 40ft, another was a good 50ft, and looked like it got towed in by a semi with a wide load on the back... it was impressive.

I don't know why I did not get pictures of it, I was just in awe I guess :embarassed:

And the admiral said she really liked just hanging out on the water, and felt very relaxed in the boat, liked how we could actually move around in the boat.

VS the jet where your sitting pretty low and really nowhere to go.

We stopped in a cove for a few hours, had lunch she took a nap, I put on some tunes via my phone... I think the tin helped me get a signal so I could stream music ;)

And it's a good feeling when the admiral approves of all the hard work put into the boat (even if she is fully willing to take full credit for it  )

and using the "speed view" app on my phone, the boat topped out at 30mph.

I think I need to play with the trim on the boat a little, I have the engine on the lowest spot, pretty much forcing the nose down into the water.

Also tons of power getting there, hit the throttle to hard and it wants to give you whiplash, however at the top end it felt maybe over propped (17p).

Oh well even if I don't get it faster 25mph was pretty much the sweet spot, slow enough to be smooth, and fast enough to get you there.

I'll also mention the fuel economy, I ended up tossing in an extra fuel tank.

On our last outing I made it to our fishing spot with the main engine, switched to the trolling engine for a few hours, and then back again via the big engine.

Maybe 30min of run time, and I had maybe a quart of fuel left in the 6 gallon tank
Out on the big lake with just the trolling engine... not good :faint2:

So this time around I tossed in another 6 gallon tank, and near the end of yesterday I had to switch over to it.

Yeah so I'm eye balling that 28gallon tank I have sitting in the garage...
My welder said it might cost a good $200 for him to chop it up and re-weld it to fit it in the nose of the boat, it should keep It around 20gallons when it's done..

That's cool Gibbs, I know the Chief was once my mistress in the garage that I went out to meet at all hours of the night. Now the big hunk of tin has brought us closer and is making great memories.

Man you need power TnT to get all you can out of that fridge. So I forgot, do you have a tach reading for that WOT top speed? The fuel use is about right for an OB. The formula is 1 gallon an hour for every 10 HP at WOT. So your 140 will soak 14 gallons an hour at WOT!!! Don't ya just love boats?

Yeah, i kinda expected this beast to be thirsty. Just surprising how fast it goes  TnT i would love to have, i found it odd that an engine of this size did not come equipped. And i have a tach, i just have not connected it yet.

Ok i did some local shopping and picked up a swim platform for $35! It's. Stainless with some weathered teak... So i have it torn apart and doing a little clean up.. It's. Raining and its a bit wet... But i have the teak seperated from the frame... Doing a bit of sanding now.

Looks like the PO tried taking the teak apart, but found it's glued together.

A little bit of cracking in the front where they tried freeing the teak pieces, I figure I'll put some epoxy in the crack, and clamp down for it to cure.

Also all of the screws that should secure the lower teak to the upper teak are all missing, so I'll head down for some stainless wood screws shortly, pick up some teak oil while I'm at it
