I'm looking at a ranger 18' 350v with no motor, but have a 70hp johnson, will this boat get on plane ?? or is it too much boat for the motor,I dont need to go fast,useing it to catfish in the rivers/

it will plane out, real slow though. probably looking at 30 to 35 mph tops ,depending on prop. i know that they came with a 150 though (max was a 200!). thats more than twice what you have. and it's not good for the longevity of the motor as it will be working real hard.
