Recently bought a 89 VIP 179 f/s boat. I believe the weight to be around 1100lbs. It came factory with a 125 Force, but has been changed to a 77 70hp Johnson. It is a bit underpowered I am sure. With my current prop which is a aluminum 15 pitch, 4 average people in the boat, and running WOT. I get about 5400 rpms, at about 28mph according to my new Faria speedo. The boat seems kinda sluggish off the bottom end, but does get up on plane. Is this about normal, or could I change anything around for better performance besides adding a larger motor lol.

Thanks!

Pretty good top speed, but you need top get the RPM's up. Depending on what props are available, and staying with the same number of blades, I would drop at last one peg in pitch .

I need to take the boat out by myself and see what rpms it runs at WOT. I haven't been able to go by myself yet, as soon as I ever get in my boat at the lake seems like everyone piles in.
