having problems timing engine, put new trigger on and ohmed the stator. it shows .3 between the two yellow wires and infinity from yellow wire to ground. it has one large regulator on back of power head. is this stator good or bad?

It's probably good. Disconnect the yellow wires and hook up an AC voltmeter between them. Then start the engine. You should get about 15V per 1000 rpm between the wires.

Sux to be you. That regulator is expensive. Probably better to put in the CDI dual regulator conversion.
