150 hp Johnson fuel supply

The mechanic that sold the motor to me said it required a 3/8" fuel line, but looking at the quick connect to the portable tank there's just no way that small opening is going to flow as much as 3/8 line.

What am I missing here ?

The restriction is for a very short distance. Flow is dependent on the length of the hose. Imagine the flow from your kitchen faucet where the orfice that regulates the flow is only about a 1/4" round. Now imagine how much flow you would get if you had 1/4" tubing all the way from the faucet to the street or even worse all the way to the company that supplys your water.

This is a simple way to explain it without going into the physics of friction losses, laminer flow, etc.

I was thinking that I wouldn't be able to use the quick-connects at the tank end but your explanation makes perfect sense.

Thanks
