Re: 150 HP Force has me stumped

Hey Johnbottsr, post a picture of your splashwell area. For all you other folks, his splashwell area looks like it was added on as an extension of the transom. Looks like is is factory, but I looked closely and it's hard to tell. Anyways, the bottom of the splashwell extension sits higher up than the bottom of the hull. When cruising around, the cavitation plate is so deep in the water, you can't see it. Plus the rooster tail is pretty pronounced. It's almost like the water is hitting the front of the upper part of the leg. The cavitation plate is sitting pretty much even with the bottom of the hull. I'm thinking that it needs to be raised up at least even with the bottom of the splashwell extension.

Here is the best picture I could find (not my boat but same set up):

Just eyeballing this it appears to be rigged the same as mine.

Here's another picture of a newer model. Kind if hard to tell. Looks to me from this picture that the cav. plate is even with the bottom of the splashwell, not the bottom of the main hull. What do you think? It also doesn't have the dip on the top of the splashwell where the motor is mounted. It looks to be straight across.

Sure looks a lot higher than mine. I will get some pictures tonight, but its looking like modifying the splash well transom to go straight across might be the answer.
I was looking at jack plates too.
