150 efi FUEL REGULATOR

I just had my boat in the shop and was told I need a new fuel regulator and the filter is clogged up and the tank on it is probably full of particles. I know they don't mean the main fuel tank. They want $600 to replace it. I am out of work and can't afford that right now. Has anyone changed one before? I do quite a bit of my own work on my cars so I just thought I might give this a try also. If not I guess I won't be spending a lot of time on the water this year. Any advice would be a great help!!

Fuel regulator is 2 screws and hoses need the S/S oetiker clamps as hose clamps will not work. Which filter is clogged..the fuel pump or water seperator??
