125 merc conversion from 25" to 20"

I have a 2003 mercury 125hp with a 25 inch shaft I am trying to change it to a 20 inch. I have been looking at everything I would need to do but I can't figure out how to get the cooper water tube out so that I can take some length off.

It just pushes in and pulls out..set into rubber/plastic seals on the upper and lower ends. Apparently some corrosion is making it difficult for you, but I assure you, there is no snap, clamp, or anything else holding that tube in place....it is held in place by insertion and the bolting on of the lower unit to the mid section and the "hold in place bolts" are in no way connected to the pipe.

Thank you, Thats what I thought I guess I just need to yank a little harder fear of pulling it out and not being able to get it back in stopped me from giving it all I had.
