Hello everyone,

I have recently purchased a 89 maxum 20 b/r. It has a 125 force on it which seems to run great. I wanted to replace the impeller in the lower drive but not sure if it is a 125 L drive or not. I look all around and couldnt find a S/N on the motor. I have a repair manual on the way thought someone could point me in the right direction. Im pretty sure the motor is a 89 its black in color. thanks

If it's stuck on the back and not through the floor,it's an outboard.J

If you had one you would be in no doubt what you had. Probably ranks alongside the Ford Edsel as one of the biggest cockups in (marine) history.

It was an attempt to use an outboard engine powerhead as an inboard engine but whilst the powerhead was well proven, the drive system was an utter failure. They will eventually only be found in museums :)

I will differ with that statement slighty. While the L drive was better suited as an anchor then a drive train the Edsel was a great vehicle marketed way ahead of it's time.

L drive is similar to an i/o.

It is not an outboard engine.

Thanks for the help. I ordered an impeller for the 125 o/b and will hopefully have it all put together this weekend. This is a great site. Thanks again for all the assistance
