The tilt is currently in the 4th pin up from the transom.

You want yours to look like the TRIMMED IN PICTURE. You do not want it to look like the trimmed out picture. If it's in the fourth hole, that's the trimmed out picture.

Thanks guys. I'd like to try to get it to plane with this 6hp but if not I might have to get a bigger motor. I'll try the trim in and see what it does. I'm also gonna make some aluminum trim tabs for it because that's what my buddy did for almost the same boat and it worked great.

yep try it trimmed down, maybe consider the 7" prop, and maybe some smart tabs (you'll love em on your boat even if you end up getting a bigger motor BUT know this.... when I was a 150 lb kid LONG time ago, my 12' semi v tinny would not even think about planing with me and another lightweight buddy with my 7.5 johnyrude running on better gas than we have today tho there were no smart tabs to be had back then and I couldn't have afforded them anyhow.

What are the dimensions on the AV plate of that 6HP outboard, width, length?

I have a Stingray Jr on my 7.5 HP Force - 14' jon boat combo and wouldn't run the boat without it. The foil came with the outboard when I bought it and I decided to remove it as everyone said they were bad and would slow the boat down... The boat was a dog without it and it took for ever to plane, top speed was slower too as the arse end was dragging too much. Needless to say I bolted it back on when I got back home. They are supposed to fit 2.5-40HP outboards.

I had a 5 1/2 Johnson that wouldn't plane a 14' boat with just me in it and a 10' Lowe Lake John (wide, high sides) with a 7 1/2 Merc that ran like a scalded cat with me and gear. I agree with Frank. You are expecting too much.

I tried putting one of the Davis instruments 2 piece dole fin on it and it wouldn't fit. Much too big for the cavitation plate. There were holes drilled though. Do you think a stingray jr would work?

Maybe, it might require the lower pitch prop too. I'd try the cheapest first, then the other.

I would play with load balance too, shift weight forward, back, to see if it helps since little boats are very sensitive to load imbalance. On my 14'er, I have most of the extra weight mid-ship, batteries, fuel tank, anchor tackle boxes.

You may want to check the performance with a light load. And work up to the typical load.
Antivent plate height can be critical especially if it is very low dragging too much through the water
Also if too low the foil may cause strange handling.
