115 hp evinrude lost power while running wide open

I have a Evinrude 1993 115 outboard motor. It lost half of it power but still runs and idols. Cuts off and started back up so boat could be trailered. After this it would not get back on plane. It acted as if it was only firing on 2-3 cylinders. Have checked the coils, they show good. Running very rough. Any ideas

When was the last time the carbs have been cleaned out?

Is it getting hot and going into SLOW mode; some type of alarm should be sounding. Other thing is that some ignition parts tend to break down when they get hot and could be losing spark to 1/2 the cylinders.

Have you checked the compression. Mine done similar and I had lost all compression in the #1 cylinder. Everybody told me to change coils, power packs, plugs and wires, carbs and lines, and timing. after I was stupid and changed everything, it was the compression and I had a bad cylinder. I hope it ain't the case for you but wouldn't hurt to check.

make sure the link to your timing advance is attached mine fell out and i lost power but it would idle fine

Check your compression and then your spark with an open air gap spark tester set at 7/16 ".

I rebuilt both carbs.
The bowls were cracked. And when engine is cold or hot it continues to run the same. The coils are goods. Does anyone know how to check the power pack, the stator, and the timing base?

Just put a rebuilt power head on a year ago.
