when i check it like described abone.my spark plug tester i bought has a male wnd and a clamp clip...onthe other end .do i ground it to check for spark ?it is adjustable too thanks

bump.. i want to make sure i test it right should i close the gap on the tester?its new to me this is the tester i got.
