Ok so…the leak was a separate issue due to the oil seal which I replaced and holding pressure now. The hard rotation of the shaft was due to the spring being fatigued which sits atop of the drive shaft; it keeps downward pressure on the shaft into the shock absorber-my diagnosis thus far. Will update once started again
