I've got an 88 Mercury OB (100 HP). I have the service manual and was trouble shooting a constant beep from the alarm module. I've determined it is the temp sender wired at the top of the engine block (I followed trouble shooting directions from manual). It is sending an overheat signal constantly even when cold. So I need to replace. Problem/Fear -- this part is inserted into engine and held by a bracket with one screw. The bracket keeps it from popping out but nothing seems to really hold it in place. The manual suggests using a flat screwdriver to loosen the seal to pull it out, but HOW do I secure the new part back. I'm afraid it will simply sit freely in the hole. The bracket doesn't attach to the temp sender, it just fills the outside of the hole to prevent it from coming out. Anyone got experience with this replacement? THANKS
