Hi, I have a 1989 6hp Johnson, on the motor has a sign says 100/1, is that means 100:1?
thank you!
thank you!
Thank you, I will try it!The 100:1 mix was a factory blunder / mistake .----Do a compression test on it.--Post the numbers.--Make sure lanyard clip is installed and working properly.----Run at 50:1 on it now.
I did the test, both cylinders are about 68The 100:1 mix was a factory blunder / mistake .----Do a compression test on it.--Post the numbers.--Make sure lanyard clip is installed and working properly.----Run at 50:1 on it now.
Most likely you didn't kill it running 100 to 1 for that short of time and at low speed but maybe someone before you if they ran it at WOT for any length of time. What knob by the way? 68 is not good so you may want to retest with another tester. Not sure why it's running at home and not while your away.I did the test, both cylinders are about 68
The motor ran perfectly after I clean the carb yesterday, it started 2nd pull, I was really excited, ran about 5-8 minutes, put it forward and reverse twice and ran the carb dry, took it to the marine, and it wouldn’t start. And lost the knob, more than frustration,

Check other post, no need to make two posts by the wayThe video was before I took it to marine, it ran good!
The knob I lost was the primer pump stick looks like choke knob, I thought it was choke
You're wrong there are oils capable of running 100-1 at 5000+Just run it at 50:1------100:1 is simply not enough oil a 5000 RPM !!
Still wrong! No matter how many times you say it you will not be right. Maybe you just don't understand it? Maybe you should look at Amsoils Website. Never to old to learn they say. There are absolutely oils capable of running 100-1. The OMC oil just was not uo to the task.Nope----Needs 50:1 at 5000 RPM------Oil and lubrication in 2 strokes is not well understood !
Just curious, what oils are you referring to?Still wrong! No matter how many times you say it you will not be right. Maybe you just don't understand it? Maybe you should look at Amsoils Website. Never to old to learn they say. There are absolutely oils capable of running 100-1.
Did you not see I referenced Amsoil. Amsoil will actually warranty their oils. With that I am out, I am not going to turn this into an oil debate the OP has his answer.Just curious, what oils are you referring to?
I think Opti is 100:1 also. However I won’t run that low. 50:1 is leanest of my mixes. No smoke at 50:1.Did you not see I referenced Amsoil. Amsoil will actually warranty their oils. With that I am out, I am not going to turn this into an oil debate the OP has his answer.
Sorry didn't see Amsoil reference.I don't care what people decide to run in their motors. But to say it can't be done is not true. Run what you want. People need to know only certain oils can run 100-1 not all of them can.
