07 5.0GL 2bl carb
Problem: At WOT boat will run up to 4000 rpm. If I then back off the throttle alittle the rpms will climb to 4300 and the speed increases. If I then push the accelerator to WOT the rpms drop back to 4k and the speed decreases. I've replaced the water separator so far. Boat runs great no hesitations or other issues. Any help would be appreciated.

Does the engine sound like it is choking down above 4k rpm?

I should mention I also cleaned the spark arrestor. But yes it acts like it's starving for air. I assume if it was fuel related it would go lean and pop. I also verified the choke is opening all the way.

The way I see it is that you are either getting way too much fuel dumped in or you aren't getting enough. I think I wold check my fuel lines just to be sure they aren't collapsing or blocked first. Maybe even replace them if they are 15 yo factory lines.
Have you tried to manually add fuel through the carb while it's bogging to see if it falls flat or picks up?

Not yet that could be a real challenge at 50 mph. With the engine hatch open.

I guess it would be. Didn't know if you had a doghouse, sundeck, or something else. I just used a multi direction spray bottle after removing the flame arrestor.

I would listen to Scott's leads. He has forgotten more than I know.

Did you empty the contents of the fuel filter into a clear container and check for water in the fuel?
