had a issue ...i changed plugs, and went to put it in the water as i primed it the bulb did not get hard. so i had about five squeezes then tried to start. The motor struggled like a hydrolocked from fuel then it popped and started up..well when it did run it rattles like something came loose. it idles smooth and ran it for about 30 seconds to try and isolated the sound.. thought it took a tooth off the flywheel or starter. i pulled it apart and not one tooth missing. looked in the carbs to see if the reeds broke. i can see one side only. my main question is if i am going to have to tear this motor down to find the problem.. or what broke after the fuel flooding in the motor and starting

any suggestions would be great

thanks

Sorry to hear that. Hope the rebuild goes well. I just finished my 1975 9.9evinrude & it's running well. Can't wait to be done with the "double oil" & stop foulin plugs! Good Luck:)
