My niece had aquired a 04 seadoo rxp that does not have a key, is there a way to bypass the security lanyard setup in order to get the engine started. This craft was washed up during a huricane and they have tried to locate the owner without any luckso far, so they have no key for the craft. We have been thinking about putting the motor in a mini speedbaot if they continue to have no luck in locating the owner. Any help would be appreciated.

nope,, you must have the key programmed with the computer or buy a used computer with the key,, or replace the entire computer with a aftermarket system that doesn't use a dess key,, but the fuel injection system and timing are all controlled by the controll module on top of the engine,, and that one is programmed to the key not the flat computer "MEPM" on the side of the hull like most people think,, any way it gets really costly perhaps finding a good used one with a matching dess key, check with www.jetkingparts.com for a used one, also sea doo dealers can check the hull number for the original purchaser of the ski, I believe if you salvaged it it belongs to you now and a dealer can program a new key to the machine
