03 225 optimax cutting out intermittently

having trouble with my 03 225 optimax cutting out intermittently with out warning, when it cuts out it just dies!!!! it will start right back up and act like nothing happened, idling perfect and going back on plane as if nothing was wrong, and then out of nowhere just die again. it does seem to happen more frequent when pushed at higher rpms 4k+ but has also happened when coming off plane. each time it starts right back up as if nothing is wrong. had a warning on my smartcraft gauges saying check PITOT but not each time, not sure if that would be related or just coincidental. Motor ran flawless all summer long and on the last trip of the season this problem shows up....has anyone experienced this and can you point me in the right direction for trouble shooting. intermittent problems like this always seem to be hard to diagnose. man thats a hard one to do without the computer and professional knowledge just start at the basics check fuel filter for water etc!!

Does it die like you cut key off or like it ran out of fuel and sputters???

it dies like the key was turned off....I never had a fuel problem act like that..the bowl on the water separator was perfect...no water at all.

Check PITOT usually indicates block water pressure lower than specified. On the back of the block their should be a small gray hose connected to a sensor. I would pull this hose off and check for restrictions. This will send the engine into guardian mode and reduce it to forced idle. This hose is self locking so you have to push it in and hold the coupler in to release.

Check all your connections to ensure completely plugged in/snapped together, check grounds and check fuses. I have seen this on 2 other engines. One was a loose CPS(crank position sensor) and other was a bad power relay...

The CPS is #21 and main power relay is #12

sorry for bringing this back, just wanted to know the end result of this issue, running into the same issue, i tested the lanyard switch, good, swaped the main power relay with the trim up/down relay, no change, checked battery connections and charged up batteries real good, nothing.

ran into similar issue last year, had to change fuel diaphragm, but in this condition, it would sputter and run rough, eventually die with primer bulb getting soft, not the same issue at all.

ran the ddt on it, (got it from a buddy), nothing, will try running it on the lake with the ddt on it
