On my past couple outings the digital display has been acting up.
Its like it is trying to display some thing, looks more like egyption hyroglifics????

This is a 2010 5.ol gxi/sx that has been perfect...untill,
This past weekend I had just left the ramp, at idle speed. Looking down at the guage I saw it was about 170 (always nailed on 150).
WTH? I shut her down and tilted up, no debris, put her back down, fired up, still rising. So...
All the outboards i've had have a tilt switch in the cowling.
Anyone ever added one maby through the transom of an outdrive.
I have to tilt up to back into the garage, tilted up. Then have to tilt down to finish backing in.
A rorlal pian to get in the boat to tilt. Also for draining at the ramp...
I made a OD stand/jack and removed the oudrive.
The OD is mounted with "Ny-lock" style nuts.
Do I need new nuts or will some permatex (or other) be good with the old nuts?
Also I've got MERC propshaft grease, is this alright for the driveshaft/coupling?

I'm in the process of repwering a 1975 Mako 23. It had a V8
OMC that I gave up on 2 years ago.
Im looking at 5.7 MPI
The Hull is 3600lb(dry) and the transome has been filled.
My questions are
1: would you prefer merc or VP, why...
Have had problems with her for a couple of months.
I had a high speed miss, rebuilt the carbs, now it won,t idle.
Starts fine, but will only idle if I keep pressing the key.
She runs great if I throttle it past idle, in gear.
I have tried the idle set screw at 3 1/2 and 1 1/4 turns

I have a reman. 5.7 '75/omc the oil pressure is 50-60 when first run.
Drops to 45 warm. Water temp is about 150 deg.
After a short cruise, I stop to troll,
while in gear at 4-500 RPM the pressure drops to almost 0 deg?
Any trottle at all and she pics right back up.
Just this SLOOOOOOOW...
