    Is driveshaft supposed to be visible...

    84' Mercruiser 898 5.7 w/ Alpha 1... Stupid question.....While standing inside the boat looking behind the engine, I can see the drive shaft coming from the outdrive. Is this how it's supposed to be or are there supposed to be any covering and seals around it? Just wandering.....

    oil frothy just from flushing...

    84' mercruiser 898 5.7 with Alpha I... I changed the gear oil in the outdrive yesterday and ran it on the trailer for maybe 30 seconds and took the cap off to find that the oil was frothy, thinner and discolored. The level was exactly the same, though. If water was getting in, wouldn't this...

    oil and water in drive bellow...

    84' Mercruiser 898 5.7... I noticed steam/smoke rising from outdrive while on the water so I took it home and pulled the outdrive. While draining the oil, I noticed it was milky. When I took the outdrive off, the drive bellow looked as if someone poured a large vanilla milkshake in it...
