What type of pads are you using? I use Norton Zirconia Alumina 36 grit pads to cut stainless and carbon steel alloys. Use worn pads for finishing work. Use 80 and 120 for aluminum cut, worn pads and oil to finish.

Taking my lake toon to the beach

Need to keep an eye on your hardware and wiring..... A lot of attention is taken to spec "salt resistant" hardware (316 stainless) and wiring fixtures (tinned) on boats meant for coastal use. Not so much on "lake" boats.....

Gauge panel is falling out, the screws were held on with glue??

If it doesn’t have to come off now and then for repairs, you can use 3M high bond tape. It is strong and stays where put. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b40065787/

    Fuel tank repair

Made a couple of customs and welded up a couple of fuel tanks back in the day. As noted, you either have to fill the tank with water or purge with nitrogen or argon. This is only after cleaning inside with detergent and water to remove any fuel residue. From a repair standpoint, I wouldn’t...

Can i cut my bunks down?

Too a point……a trailer is designed to support 85-90% of the load on the axle, leaving the support structure (frame) to support 10-15% of the load. The real question when moving the weight forward of the axle, how much weight can a support structure designed to support 10-15% of the load carry...
