    1980 110(9.8) hp Mercury outboard

No the one beside that one behind. I turn it in and the idle goes up and back it out for idle to go down. I don't have a manual for this motor but think I have it figured out now, other then idle in gear might need adjusting.

    1980 110(9.8) hp Mercury outboard

After I got it up and running I adjusted the low speed mixture and throttle stop screw, in for more idle and out for less. Think I was able to get it correct cause now it will start on second pull (first being choke closed) and it pulls gas in.

I pull the choke, start it and it runs good. I adjusted the idle speed a bit and seems to run good.

great news!! I got this motor running but now it only starts with the throttle wide open. Could you please tell me how to set the fast idle as I still don't have a manual for this motor. Thanks!

I was thinking after looking at everything it must be the crank seals as to why it won't fire with premix into carb.

Was just wondering, would bad oil seals be why my compression is just under 100 psi?

I am going to try holding hand over carb while it's being pulled and check for suction, that's a hard challenge alone but.. maybe the oils seals are bad.

So, after tearing this motor down and finding stuck piston rings I have cleaned it all up and reassembled it. I am at the point now of getting her to pop with fuel into the plug holes but not with premix sprayed into the carb, the tiller handle is still loose and I don't have a manual to set it...

How do I make sure the right time is achieved? Like I said, no manual

I know this is a simple motor but having some trouble getting her to start. I’ve set the idle mixing screw( seated and then back out 1.5 turns) but the markings on twist grip are worn off so I’m not sure where it has to be to start.

I have removed the carb a few times and yeah, I’ve been using same gasket but thought it looked pretty good

    Pressure like suction or blowing?

    1986 Mercury 9.8 110 outboard

Yeah I was finally able to get it to pop a bit with premix in the plug holes but not with fuel down carb throat. Does this mean timing could be out? My twist tiller cables are not tight yet

I have been using new coils I had on hand that I didn’t need for another motor so those are good. Does the choke need adjustment if it doesn’t close snug when pulled?

I was able to get the reed block all lined up with the pin to block

    1986 Mercury 9.8 110 outboard

Ok. so I was able to get her to fire for like 2 seconds with premix in the spark plug hole. Now what?

Would anyone be able to tell me where I can find a diagram of the ignition system on my 110, 9.8 Mercury outboard serial no: 7151133, as I can't find a manual for it. When I research this outboard, I have noticed a some of them have two brown wires leaving the cdi box and head up to something...

If I have good spark on both cylinders a spray of premi9x into carb should fire correct? Cause I can't get this thing to fire at all

So if the ignition is capable of jumping 3/8" then is it safe to say the cdi box is ok? I still can't get this thing to back or anything.
