So, after tearing this motor down and finding stuck piston rings I have cleaned it all up and reassembled it. I am at the point now of getting her to pop with fuel into the plug holes but not with premix sprayed into the carb, the tiller handle is still loose and I don't have a manual to set it up. I am wondering if the timing might be out now and how to set the tiller as a starting point. I have set the idle mixture screw to the seat in and 1.5 backed out and have compression and spark but no start without fuel into plug holes. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks!

The idle screw (low speed ratio adjustment) is set ok at the normal recommended starting point. The spraying premix into the Venturi and no response is confusing.....tends to move the suspected problem from a dirty carb. as the source of the problem.

The starting with fuel sprayed in the spark plug holes indicates that getting fuel to the combustion chamber is your only problem. With an open Venturi, no choke, and a pressurized spray of combustible liquid into the Venturi, not much to suspect in the way of parts....maybe stuck reed valves (between the carb. and the engine block). If it's cross flow, maybe the pistons are installed backwards. If looper, possibly the same problem if there are any holes for fuel scavenging in the piston.............

I am going to try holding hand over carb while it's being pulled and check for suction, that's a hard challenge alone but.. maybe the oils seals are bad.
