    Mercruiser 888 Unexpected Prop behavior?

My experience with 4 blades is they tend to lift the stern on my hull. Usually resulting in trim making little to no difference as well. Try the 19 and see if you get in the ballpark for RPMs. If you were closer I'd loan you my stainless 19 to test just because. That prop has run like magic on...

    Mercruiser 888 Unexpected Prop behavior?

So my pilot tube would easily read say... 35 mph when I was running 30-31 GPS... that very easily can account for some of the top speed loss. Post rebuild I gained less than half a mile an hour GPS despite being several hundred pounds lighter so theres that too. Dad had an old 17' invader with...

    Mercruiser 888 Unexpected Prop behavior?

19 pitch 3 blade would probably be comparable to the 18 4 blade... the RPM drop sounds about right for stepping up 3 inches in pitch. While it could theoretically hit 60 with a 21p, your 3700 at 46 mph is most likely right. Short of some magic, typically WOT speed stays the same when making...

    Fuel came out overflow

You know... everyone warns about running tanks dry but in the few dozen I've pulled i never found much more than a grain of sand or two at the bottom of the tank and never moisture.

    Fuel came out overflow

My 84 originally had a 26 gallon tank, about 23 of that was useable. It was okay for cruising but if you did a lot of tubing it ran down quick. I replaced it was a 39 gallon, of which 37 is usable. That is a good size for my needs.

    Fuel came out overflow

I just flip the key on and watch the gauge. When I installed the new tank after the rebuild it was pretty easy to get a measurement. Also found out the fuel pump maxes out before the tank fills. (125$)

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

My phone has the stylus built in. At first I thought it was going to be a gimmick but man has it come in handy at work. You can even do lock screen notes so I occasionally come back to some "fun" drawings saved. :ROFLMAO:

Non rotted boat that was suspected rotted.

The front mount on the inlines always rots out. Little bit of bilge water sloshing around is all it takes if the bolts aren't sealed.

    Fuel came out overflow

Don't fill until it stops. Fill until the gauge reads full. Install a racor lifeguard otherwise. If i fill until it stops I'll get slosh out the vent until the level drops on take off... the life guard, while expensive, will stop this. With how low my tank is and how low the vent is I am prone...

    Bearing buddy issues

I only lost the grease immediately behind the bearing buddy. It was otherwise packed flat to the lip. Nut/cotter pin still concealed

    Bearing buddy issues

I lost my bearing buddy on my fuel up for the lake trip last year. I learned that some have a better press fit than others. The replacement needed a sledge to seat fully... thats a problem for future me when I repack them.

    PSA for inboard gas owners.....

If there is a leak with how mine was designed, it runs directly into the doghouse... in my use case I don't know venting around the tank makes much a difference. The bulk head is better sealed after my rebuild than factory though.

I'm not paying 500k+ for a house that was 200k 3 years ago is part of the problem. My nor anyone else's pay has tripled in the last few years either. I'm not saying it can't be done... it's just is it worth it right now vs building a portfolio and waiting for the inevitable crash out and...

    Perpetual Debt

They don't pay me enough to diversify more lol. I realistically have 25 years before I can consider retirement. My advisor is slowly investing and spreading things out that make sense for me but... now is (and isn't in some ways) the time to do that. Not like I'll be able to afford a house...
