I have almost finished my 1956 AlumaCraft FD. The Capacity plate size is the question. There are two plates on the transom for this model, one is the Capacity plate and the other is a manufacturer model number plate. Can some one tell me the dimension of these plates? I have someone to make the...
So, I have received the answer to the date of manufacturing today. Thank you AlumaCraft. What I was thinking was a 1959, which the DMV lists as a 1960 is actually a 1956. Good to know.
Now how do I get a manufactures capacity plate replacement?
Changed the water pump impeller (works great), finished the trailer restoration, completed the transom rebuild...ready to take the new generation of grandkids for a ride.
Finished the restoration and ready to go...thank y'all for all the encouragement and information. This 1959 Alumacraft FD is ready to carry a new generation of grandkids.
I was looking into using non "acetoxy"marine rated silicone between the wood and aluminum. You said you used marine grade plywood, despite not being readily available everything I have read says that it is not a good product due to the quality of materials and it is hard to work with...splinters...
I have researched the 3/8" marine grade plywood that I was told Alumacraft used on this boat originally. This does not appear to be available or a good material for this application. I think I'm going to use pressure treated plywood in the 1/2" and seal it really good. Still researching my options.
I finished the trailer today and took the boat to the license office to transfer the registration. I was stoped on the way by a guy asking where I had purchased my new trailer...felt good.
The transom appears to be caped with an aluminum channel according to several pictures I have seen on line, mine does not have this piece. Can someone tell me the thickness of this channel piece?
The inside board I was told was white oak and according to my measurements is 1-1/8" thick. The...
Separate question, the motor is mounting on a 14', 1959 AlumaCraft FD, How can I best protect the transom when the boat is on the trailer? Should I put a boot brace on the motor, take the motor off, what is best practices?
Should I put a foot support under the motor boot to the trailer to help protect it when trailering? It is a Nissan 25hp weighing around 100+ pounds. What is the bet practice?
