That "made in"dont mean anything these days...Saturn auto down the road from me gets sub-assemblies from all countries, assembles a vehicle and it says made in USA. Tons of repackaging done these days.

The Tohatsu impellers I have in stock says Made in Japan, no way that honorable people like them are repackaging impellers made in Italy as being manufactured in Japan.

This is an example of a Tohatsu impeller made with an elastomer compound compared to plain rubber ones, need no further clarification as the superb quality speaks for itself.

I DO know better. But sometimes life gets in the way. I'm also kinda lazy at times.....but not with the main on the boat.

My Dad and I went trolling fishing every Saturday for about 20 years. The 1984 9.9 ran perfecto and pumped water all the time. When he passed I only used the motor once a year - on the annual commissioning voyage - and never trolled again.

Just before selling the boat I thought I would replace the 9.9 impeller - just because I'm honest and wanted the new owner to have a trouble-free kicker. The old impeller was still pliable and still quite usable, even after 35 years of service. It was the OEM that came with the motor.

I realize that everybody thinks Tohatsus are primo, but you Gotta love an original American Made Evinrude...

I'n not going to argue about where the Tohatsu OEM impellers are finally made, strange that in Japan can't fabricate their own impellers which are made by hundreds by a simple injection process, the post was all about clarifying that not all impellers brands are made with same material compound as you though, OEM Tohatsu ones will outlast by far any other impeller brand....

Nope,I'm the only one that thinks so from plain field experience, guess what can be flipped when out of stock, so will never have a Tohatsu motor stranded at terra firme due to an impeller issue. Have owned modern Evinrude, Yamaha motors and know how much their brand impellers lasts which isn't an issue.

Changed the water pump impeller (works great), finished the trailer restoration, completed the transom rebuild...ready to take the new generation of grandkids for a ride.

By the way, the water pump was much stronger after I changed the impeller.
