    GPS Speedo

Thank you all for the advice.....The Newport GPS speedo is discontinued for my boat. I looked at the connections of my gauges and they are all proprietary. As in plug in, not studded. So I am on the hunt for a 5 inch GPS that will blend in. The Kronus looks to be close.

That would be precise for sure.

    GPS Speedo

I have a complete gauge set that was to go in my Sunray restoration. The gauges are Faria Euro design. Totally different from the 5-inch Newport gauges in the boat now. Now is there a big difference between performance from the GPS and pitot tube speedos ? I will have to change all my...

    Fish finder/bottom map

Thanks, I am leaning towards Lowrance, just figuring out how big of a screen.

    Fish finder/bottom map

Thank you, I will see which maps are the best in cost wise with a unit. I have limited space for the FF, but I do not need the latest greatest. Last year's model is a good idea.

    Fish finder/bottom map

I have an old Lowrance Hook5. I would like to get a newer unit that is colour and a 7-inch screen. I was looking at Hummingbird or another Lowrance. Are they all the same? My use would be for navigating unfamiliar inland waters in Ontario, Canada.

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Thanks everyone for your help and input. I have finished the dual battery project, along with my audio system upgrade.

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Thanks, I have a Blue Sea m6011 switch coming. Now I can not find a schematic of the switch. If the switch is in the off position, does that mean both batteries are off? Or would I need a separate on/off switch for my house battery?

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Ok, I have the batteries in. I am just waiting for a switch. I take it that a Harbour Freight on off battery disconnect would not be allowed in the boat?

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Ok, I have drawn what I am thinking to do. All positive leads will have a fuse. I have an on-off switch that is going to be used for the main starting battery. The fuse panel under the helm will be moved to the house battery, as it is only for lights and bilge pump. My battery negative posts...

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Thanks alldodge, I will double-check. I forgot about the throttle.

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Now I have my main fuse panel primary wire going to my starter battery. I should be able to move this to the house battery? The ignition switch is my only uncertainty. Would the start circuit still work? The key switch goes to the starter solenoid, energizes it and the main start battery would...

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Ok, ordered a mini ACR rated at 65amp. My alternator is 65amp. Now would a 4awg cable to the ACR from the house battery be ok? Or should it be 2awg, like the starting battery is? I will draw maybe 30amp from the house battery.

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Thanks for the info on the LiFePo4 batteries. I will stick with a conventional. Scott, your setup is good, but I have a small area to work in. The boat has a fibreglass inner lining which makes for a more difficult working environment. I was thinking of just running pair of 4awg from the...

    Dual battery or booster pack?

I just looked up a LifePo4 battery. Interesting battery. ACR seems to be a good starting point. Would I be able to remove my dash electrical panel from the starting circuit, including the ignition?

    Dual battery or booster pack?

I have a Stingray isolator, but I am not sure if I can use it. It is not a marine one. SGP32 is the model.

    Dual battery or booster pack?

I was going to use BLUE SEA SYSTEMS #9001E switch.

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Thanks, I have 6 feet from the switch to my house battery. Looking on the chart, could I use 2awg? My alternator only outputs 65 amps and my draw would be for lights and stereo.
