    Well that makes sense, because there is no springs according to the diagram in my first post. What controls the advance? It’s a pretty basic system. It’s either the coil underneath at the base of the distributor or to the ignition module itself.

    Scott, adding a spacer does NOT make the engine run richer, actually opposite. It runs leaner. Because you increase the plenum air volume, you have to increase fuel flow. Once I went 4% richer according to the Edelbrock manual, my hot-starts ended.

    I had a similar problem with my 02 VP GL-b. My impeller housing was so wore. Once I installed a new impeller pump housing, my overheat at idle issues went away. I actually replaced the entire impeller assembly, new housing, bearing assy, pulleys, ect.
