    That is entirely possible. I used the old one i took off as a guide to cut the new one. The parts list is saying 13 3/4" for both the mc1 and alpha 1.

    So im getting ready to slap a new prop on my alpha one drive and i see in the parts breakdown that there are 2 different thrust hubs depending on what generation of prop you use. How can you tell which one you need?

    I mostly did it by feel since i couldnt see the barb. It's possible to do it with the drive all the way up and turned right. Didnt bother with the clamp as it was just to get me back to the dock.

    Yes i just put the whole assembly together a few months ago. I did put a hose clamp on there but it somehow still slipped off. Did mercury use special hose in this area? The one on there is just auto grade 5/8 heater hose.

    Is there any method to keep this hose from coming off? I trimmed my drive up and lost all cooling water. I had to get into the water to reattach it.

    I know for sure they went to a different cylinder head casting with smaller square ports in the early 90s and a 1 piece rear main seal. The parts catalogs also mention a dished and flat top piston depending on application.

    Yeah its a real merc prop same part number and everything. Aluminum is ok for me since i dont want to break my gearcase the next time i hit something.

    Not sure what you mean by vents. It doesnt seem to have any holes by the blades. box says feb of 1991 if that helps.

    The prop i broke is definitely aluminum. I think the ebay one may be in the wrong box. Sure was a lucky find after searching laser 2. Picked it up for $45 new old stock.

    I found an oe replacement prop on ebay that says its a stainless laser 2 but its painted black like an aluminum? Its a 13 7/8x21 with the same part number as my old prop.

    Yeah im mostly happy with the performance of the 4 cylinder. Just wish it ran a little smoother but for a 4cyl with no balance shaft thats probably asking too much.
