    prop question

It is difficult to compare with most other boats. but the 4blade 19p is a good start and will most likely fit you perfectly. I run it on mine. The top end suffers a bit in speed but i don't run it like that. the prop with hub runs about 150 on amazon

Any Transom experts here. I have a Transom Rebuilding Question.

did you apply resin to the wood first and let it soak in? let it dry first. then apply the csm with resin. the wood sucks all the resin out of the csm

Any Transom experts here. I have a Transom Rebuilding Question.

just be prepared to have lots of acetone at hand for cleanup. depending how fast your work time is, it can be a problem. the mixing, filling, assemble with the gun, in my opinion, you already need some smaller wood stir to mix and then fill the tube. why not use that wood stir to fill the voids...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

why are you putting resin on the tank? the cleanup may not have been needed. aluminum like copper form a protective patina.. I will come back anyways

you will put cloth over the wood and then need to level it out anyways with a skim coat. if it is nicely sanded or rough surface wood won't make a difference

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

any outdoor rated plywood will do. ACX or BCX. marine means no imperfections in the surface.. the glue is the same. and wood is the same. if you watch the youtube videos, you will see how to make "peanut butter". its like glue/filler that will be used to under the stringers. did you watch the...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

cabosil and 1/4 chopped fiber. may need to add an additional layer on the stringers with 1708 to make up for the 1/2". or use the 1/2" for the deck later. no need for marine grade plywood unless you want to make it pretty. but nobody is ever gonna see it unfortunately

Any Transom experts here. I have a Transom Rebuilding Question.

I agree with JASinIL. Ever done cake decoration? The stuff will end up everywhere. It is very sticky once it starts to cure. I used a large spoon to get nice fillets. also acetone to clean after. that dollar tree spoon helped me make nice round corners

Any Transom experts here. I have a Transom Rebuilding Question.

If you use peanut butter with the 1/4 chop strand, it will fill all the voids sandwiching it with the plywood. The csm will not go into all the uneven surfaces. It will not even add much strength. I would however clean the outside up a bit more so the 1708 wrapping around has something to grab...

Any Transom experts here. I have a Transom Rebuilding Question.

Well, what angle are the studs coming out of the housing that go thru the transom to the inside? Yes, 90 degrees from the transom face is perpendicular.

Any Transom experts here. I have a Transom Rebuilding Question.

if you look at the bolts, it's perpendicular to the transom face. Many used drilling jigs. If you have a drill press, you can drill a hole into a block of wood and use that to guide the drill. since you already have the holes in the fiberglass, use that as a locator. the holes are bigger so it...
