    Water in lower unit

How much play should there be between the joint drive shaft and the prop shaft? When I twist the shaft it turns maybe 10 or 15 degrees. Seems loose sloppy. Link to video.

    Water in lower unit

So heres my next question. If I change the shaft seal, do a pressure/vacuum test on it, and find no leaks, is it safe just to refill it with 90w gear oil, or should it be flushed with something? Will any remaining water that might be left in there be a problem? Fill, run, and change oil...

    Water in lower unit

After more thinking about it, my boat is in a slip so when it sits, the outdrive is pretty much all underwater. which means it can be leaking from anywhere. I would think that the only place where it is wearing down would be the shaft seals. all the other seals around are between two mated...

    Water in lower unit

    Engine Stuck in Guardian mode?

Normally I would pull them, but when shutting the thru hulls, water still comes out of the sea strainers, a lot of water, so, something else isnt working right now. A check valve is stuck or something. Since water was still in there, I think that the impellers didnt get as dry as I thought...

    Engine Stuck in Guardian mode?

AFter talking to a couple merc mechanics, explaining the situation, it has been sitting in a slip for about 5 weeks due to the wife having an operation and not being able to go swimming in the chesapeake bay, they are pretty certain that it is growth and barnacles on the bottom. short haul it...

Air conditioning water supply not pumping

Hi all, So, I bought a new boat to me, and when I bought it they seller said that sometimes, when starting the AC, you have to open the pump located in the bilge a bit to let water run out of it to "prime" it. Does that suggest the pump needing a new impeller or something else? Im new to these...

    Bravo 3 outdrive not draining

Yup. Well, Im not doing that exactly. simply draining the outdrive then emptying the gear lube monitor (what merc calls it) in the engine compartment. then when I fill the outdrive via the drain plug, ill top off in the engine compartment. This is actually the first time doing it on this...

    Bravo 3 outdrive not draining

I think because of the viscosity, they suggest to just drain the sump by hand, removing and draining, and then just forcing oil up through the tube, mixing with the new oil.

    Bravo 3 outdrive not draining

When all else fails, read the manual. lol. From the book. Im going to leave this up here so that when others that dont have the book ask this question, they can find it here. 1. Remove the gear lube monitor from the bracket. This is the sump in your engine compartment. 2. Empty the contents...
