    Oil 4 stroke Mercury 115hp

oil is oil....got it. But when you have a new motor that cost $12,000 you're taking a huge gamble under warranty by not following the owner's manual, especially when it comes to oil specs. And I do believe there is some truth to manufacturers engine designers specific oil spec requirements for...

    pontoon engine pod replacement

I've owned my used pontoon since 2017. I've researched all aspects and items including getting new pontoons. I've never seen any type of reference to replacing motor pods. Are you sure about your motor height mounting position being correct? I've looked at pics of monarchs and the transom angle...

    Exhaust manifold discovery?

fwiw. The 2 years in the brackish upper chesapeake with my new in 2021 Merc 115 has not hurt it. Just changed the impeller and checked the thermostat. No signs of corrosion. It does get a fresh water 2day lake run every summer, guess that helps.

    Oil 4 stroke Mercury 115hp

I bought a new Merc 115hp CT in 2021. 10w-30 Merc/quicksilver synthetic is recommended. I'd not deviate from that especially under warranty. I don't have my manual in front of me, but 20w-50 I think is acceptable.

New SEI drive, need a new prop.

by book #'s : Dropping pitch by 2 inches raises WOT rpm's by 300-400 rpm's. Then adding a blade can reduce rpm's by 100-150..200 rpm's. So the net is about a 200 +/- rpm increase at WOT...that's by the book, actual results can only be determined by running results. You have to decide what...

    Need help finding tachometer

I can't tell what #of pins in your plug end. Various cables out there. Grey is a tach wire. Maybe 5 wires?...pins? so, yes, you need a cable to plug into yours, then practically any tach with separate connectors can be used.

    early spring maintenance

I must've tightened them ok because yesterday I ran the motor and no leaks. 🙂 I also must've installed the new impeller and gaskets correctly and the lower unit properly as it shifted correctly and there was a nice strong tell/tale. 🙂 Funny that the motor fired right off after installing a...

    Boat Cover Repair?

yes, It works ok. What I bought at the hardware store was just a small box so not much is in there. If I thought it did a great job I wouldn't be using "5200" or the marine grade Goop.

    Lower Unit Oil Leak

I just think you had some anomaly. A one time thing. Oil got spilled or something. If the engine drive shaft area is leaking, you'd know it. ( I don't know that sealing system). It'd be all over that inside. If somehow gear oil was leaking at the input shaft seal into the gear case, It has to...

Is my motor sitting to low?

point is, it's not a problem until it becomes one. There are basic starting points for rigging/propping a boat but final settings depend on performance...or lack of.

    Boat Cover Repair?

if you can find a shop....then find one close......then wait......then repeat when the next repair is needed. gluing the strip on the inside, use tape on the outside to temporarily hold the rip in place, doesn't look too bad. repeat, use marine grade glues.

    Boat Cover Repair?

I ordered a small roll of marine canvas, white, to patch my custom pontoon cover. I use the "5200" and Goop makes a marine grade glue. Both appear to work well and so far have gone over 1.5 years outdoor exposure. I came out to my slip last year to see a rip 2/3 across the width in the back. It...

Is my motor sitting to low?

not a false bottom, just the end of the motor pod for a pontoon. Mine is just an open rectangle, no vertical structures. As mentioned, a pontoon is different. You need to run it and see what the WOT #'s are. Check for ventilation issues and trimming issues, if any, especially when turning at speed.

How to kill mold on billge/engine surfaces

will try the cleaning vinegar again, maybe I didn't let it sit long enough. Certainly safer than bleach.

How to kill mold on billge/engine surfaces

and then there are these out there that have no "specs" what-so-ever. Of course it says guaranteed value so I'd definitely be wrong about that one, right?
