    Strange starter issue.

Turns pout it was the bendix clutch. Not connections.. I put the old starter back in a couple times trying different things so it wasnt any connection.. Put new starter in and no problem at all. Like i said in prev post it was prob bendix clutch from the wiring harness causing intermittent...

    Strange starter issue.

ring gear is good. I determined it retracted bec it would engage with fly wheel and then starter just spins. I get where your going but flywheel ring gear teeth are good and spacing is normal no shims ever needed and it worked great for months. I believe either, as has been said there is a...

    Strange starter issue.

on the bench test, the gear will stay out indefinitely as long as i have power to the solenoid. does this indicate anything or is it staying out because there's no resistance or flywheel to engage?

    Strange starter issue.

so unhooked the fuel pump so it wouldnt start on first touch of the key and as suspected the starter bendix disengages after on 1/8 rotation, if no start immediately. I suspect with all the misfiring from the harness issue i ve killed another over running clutch or solenoid.

    Strange starter issue.

can this issue be related to starter bendix not engaging for more that 1 rotation. Im thinking when engin tries to start he vibration momentarily causes a break in firing and decrease in tension on the bendix so it retracts or worse it causes the engine to kick back (it sounds like it does this...

resurrecting this thread because its happening again. I cant keep throwing $300 starters at this thing. What could keep causing this problem. I have a troublesome main harness plug that if it isnt in just right position when connected itll cause gauges to be all over the place and or no...

    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

I hate when people don't tell what the problem was or just ghost the thread, so the issue ultimately was ........ I wasn't aware you had to put this oil based adhesive sealer on deck and heads/ gaskets. Now holding 15 psi for 1 hr so far. No audible air leaks either.

    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

Took heads off this am and it appears there's surface rust around all of the oil drain ports between the heads and block deck(prob from where i sprayed soapy water as i said in prev post).. So im thinking heads not sitting flush on deck. Looked like the gasket never touched in some places. That...

this is after all of this was done, and motor not run yet. pr test shows leak so im trying to pinpoint it. . The machinist found the problem that he felt was contributing to the water intrusion problem and didnt want to do work that wasnt needed to save me wasted money in his opinion(40 yr...

    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

Digging deep and beating a dead horse but one more thing to consider i guess. When i sprayed soapy water on the area that the most air was coming out of (the oil drain hole in head), it must have sealed the leak briefly, and it blew out one of my plugs on a manifold hose i had plugged for the...
