    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

Alright folks, interior has been primed and sanded. Question - I love the reflection on the outside of the hull I have achieved with the Interlux Perfection, but I am worried about going blind with this level of reflection on the interior. I have purchased the Interlux Flattener to bring the...

    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

2nd coat of Interlux Perfection on the hull sides! So shiny it looks like the plastic on the floor is draped over the side of the boat. Going to lightly sand and give one more coat before calling the hull sides complete.

Primer sanded and faired. The 404 Epoxy Primekote was some tough stuff to sand.

    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

Been awhile since I posted, but still moving along. Leaning post installed, side gunwale steps re-cored and reinstalled, all vinyl stickers removed, and tons of fairing done on hull,. Getting very close to being ready for paint.

    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

Coffin cover on mine was completely rotting as well. You will need to remove the console or at least hinge it back in order to remove the lid if it is the same design as mine. Console was probably the easiest part of the demo. :) I used a multi-purpose tool with a grout blade to remove the...

    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

Alright I'm back...didn't give up on me did you? I took a new job and had to move to the Houston area so project was on hold for awhile. I hope the fishing in Galveston Bay and to the south is good. I have reinstalled the liner minus the area where I had to cut out the floor. I am not...

    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

Floor is behind me and I have been working on the cap. The backing plates for deck mounted hardware were plywood with a layer of glass over the top and most of it was rotted. I have removed the plywood backers and have replaced them with 1/4" plate aluminum...no more rot to worry about. .

Currently working on replacing the top cap to hull backing strips. Using 3/8 inch marine plywood, 1 layer of 1708, and 1 layer of CSM. Here the strips are cut and getting 2 coats of resin before installing.

    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

Quick update, haven't posted in awhile. Since last post I have completed the installation of a 13 gallon under deck water tank, foam poured in all cavities, and the deck panels glued and screwed in. I glassed the underside of these panels with 1 layer of 1.5 oz CSM, used PB on top of the...

    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

Been awhile since my last post, so I figured I would give a quick update. Stringers, bulkheads, and in-floor cooler are all complete, and I am currently dry fitting the deck. The cooler box was a little adventure, but I was able to get it done. When I made the mold I should have added a...

    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

Had some time off over the Thanksgiving week and was able to make some good progress. Finished glassing in the lower floor and got the 4 main bulkheads cut and PB'd in. If weather cooperates I should be able to get them glassed in over the weekend.

    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

Finished installing the bottom floor panels... They are 1/2" marine and the underside was covered with 1 layer of CSM before laying down. Panels were PB's to the center stringer and hull sides and screwed to the keel stringer for good measure. Once it warms up a little today I will be...

    1989 Sratos 180CC Restoration

Glassed in the center stringer with 2 layers of 1708 and topped with 1 layer of CSM since this area could see standing water. Also added a layer of isophthalic gelcoat to top the area before installing the bottom floor panel. Temperatures dropped last night hence the heat lamps.

Real happy with the way my keel stringer came out. Looking forward to the weekend to get it glassed in.

One more post... For those that are going to be working on their first restore I think it is important to mention how important it is to get through the old tabbing and back down to good glass. In the first picture you can see moisture seeping out from behind sections of old glass and voids...
