    So bought a 9.8hp 2 stroke mercury motor, I found the serial number but I can't figure out the model from it. This is the number: A707538, any help helping identify it would be appreciated. Thanks.

    1970's Merc 1150, How to know when to replace/rebuild the water pump.

    I have seen it said that the water pump (if thats even the right name for it, I have no clue) should be rebuilt at least once every two years. Is there any way to tell when I should be doing it? Or should I just do it now that I bought the engine, and do it again every two years on a cycle?
